ヴォーン=ウィリアムズの交響曲第3番「田園交響曲」は、1922年1月26日に初演されました。

田園交響曲というと、ベート－ヴェンの第6交響曲がまず想起されますが、この曲は、ベートーヴェンのものとはかなり違った内容の曲です。ベートーヴェンのものは、田園の中に存在する人を主人公として描いた作品ですが、この曲は田園を描写しながらも、その田園風景の中で命を落とした第一次大戦の犠牲者への挽歌です。

従って内面の描写を主としてます。ただし、田園描写にも優れていて、ナチュラル・ホルンやナチュラル・トランペットの使用などでも効果を発揮しています。

The third Symphony of Vaughan = Williams "Pastoral Symphony" was premiered on January 26, 1922.

When called Pastoral Symphony,  sixth symphony of Beethoven is first recall, but this song is a song quite different content from those of Beethoven.
