アニメーション監督のりんたろうは1941年1月22日に東京で生まれました。

りんたろうは、一度は普通の会社に就職しましたが、映像の仕事をやりたくて転職し1958年に東映動画に入社しました。その後虫プロを経て1972年に独立し1977年から映画監督として活躍をはじめました。1979年に「銀河鉄道999」の映画監督として高い評価を得ると、「幻魔大戦」「メトロポリス」などを次々と世に送り出しました。

銀河鉄道999は、松本零士原作のアニメで、ゴダイゴによる音楽も大ヒットしました。
