ビゼーの歌劇「美しいパースの娘」は1867年12月26日に初演されました。

ビゼーは、かなりの数のオペラを手がけていますが、完成されたものはわずかで、しかも今でも上演されるのは「カルメン」のみです。「美しいパースの娘」も、第2幕の二重唱の伴奏をギローが「アルルの女」第2組曲に編曲して転用した曲が「メヌエット」として有名ですが、全曲演奏される事が殆どありません。

第2幕と第4幕で歌われる「セレナーデ」がNHK「みんなのうた」で「小さな木の実」として取り上げられ知られるようになりました。
