ヴァイオリニスト　ナタン・ミルシティンは1992年12月21日に亡くなりました。

ミルシティンは、20世紀を代表するヴァイオリニストのひとりです。超絶技巧の持ち主でしたが、演奏ではそれを前面に出さず音色と歌心を尊重していました。そのために、ロマン派の作品を得意としていましたが、逆にバッハの無伴奏ヴァイオリンのための曲も得意なレパートリーとして知られています。

バッハの無伴奏ヴァイオリンパルティータ第2番は、6曲ある無伴奏ヴァイオリンのための曲の中でも最も知られている作品です。5曲からなる曲ですが、第5曲のシャコンヌは壮大な作品で、この曲だけ単独で演奏される事も多い曲です。
