作曲家ジャコモ・アントニオ・ドメニコ・ミケーレ・セコンド・マリア・プッチーニは1924年11月29日に喉頭癌の手術後の合併症で、ブリュッセルで亡くなりました。

プッチーニはヴェルディと並ぶイタリア・オペラの大御所ですが、ヴェルディより優れているのは美しいメロディのアリアでしょう。歌詞の内容は大した事は無いものもあるのですが・・・

「ジャンニ・スキッキ」の「私のお父さん」、「蝶々夫人」の「ある晴れた日に」、「トゥーランドット」の「誰も寝てはならない」、「トスカ」の「歌に生き、恋に行き」、「ラ・ボエーム」の「私の名はミミ」などが代表的なアリアですが、プッチーニらしくない最も劇的なアリアが「星は光ぬ」です。

第3幕で、処刑を待つカヴァラドッシの絶望の歌です。

Puccini is a mogul of the Italian opera, along with Verdi, but're better than Verdi it would be Aria of beautiful melody. The contents of the lyrics I  think  some big deal is not, but ...

"O mio babbino caro " of "Gianni Schicchi ", "Un bel dì " of "Madame Butterfly","Nessun dorma" of 　 "Turandot" , "Vissi d'arte" of" Tosca ", " Sì, mi chiamano Mimì" of " La Boheme "etc. but is typical Aria, the most dramatic aria not like Puccini" stars bran light ".

In the third act, it is despair of the song of Kavu~aradosshi to wait for execution.
