アメリカのシンガー・ソングライター　ランディ・ニューマンは1943年11月28日にロサンゼルスで生まれました。

彼の父親は医師でしたが、叔父や伯父がアルフレッド・ニューマン、エミール・ニューマン、ライオネル・ニューマンという映画音楽の大家だったため、その影響を受けて音楽の道に進みました。

スリー・ドッグナイトがカバーした「ママ・トールド・ミー」のヒットで注目され1980年代以降は映画音楽の作曲家として活動しています。ピクサー映画の多くに音楽提供をしており、「モンスターズ・インク」のテーマ曲「君がいないと」ではアカデミー歌曲賞を受賞しました。

ユーモアやペイソスを含んだ作風で知られていて、「トイ・ストーリー」の「ユー・ガッタ・フレンド・イン・ミー」も彼の作風を反映した曲です。

American singer-songwriter Randy Newman was born in Los Angeles on November 28, 1943.

His father was a doctor, for his uncle were Alfred Newman, Emil Newman and Lionel Newman  who is landlord of the film music  , and went the music way becaouse of them influence.

He has became famouse by "Mama Told Me Not To Come"  that Three Dog Night is attention in the hit of the cover , since the 1980s and has been active as a composer of film music. He has a music provides to many of the Pixar movie, and was awarded the theme song "If I Did not Have You" in the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Monsters, Inc.".
