チャイコフスキー最後の交響曲、第6番は1893年10月28日に初演されています。

チャイコフスキーが初演後わずか9日の1893年11月6日に死去してるため、死を予感したチャイコフスキーの最後のメッセージとも考えられている作品ですが、チャイコフスキー自身も最高傑作と言っている程斬新で奥の深い交響曲です。

交響曲第6番は、一見オーソドックスな4つの楽章から出来ていますが、中身がまるで違っています。通常の急-緩-舞曲(またはスケルツォ)-急というパターンを、急-舞曲-舞曲(スケルツォ+行進曲風)-緩としています。

また、有名な主題を持つ第1楽章の次には舞曲として5/4拍子のワルツが入ります。そして、12/8拍子系と4/4拍子系の音楽が絡み合う第3楽章、エレジーともいえる終楽章から成っており、終楽章の主題は第1ヴァイオリンと第2ヴァイオリンが1音ずつ交互にメロディを奏でるという珍しい形になっています。

この曲は、第1楽章の冒頭コントラバスの和音に始まり、終楽章のコントラバスのピツィカートで終わるというコントラバス奏者にとっては非常に美味しそうな曲なのですが、弾いていて息がつまりそうです。
特に冒頭の和音は、通常ビブラートをかけずに音の雑味を一切取り払って演奏するので音程も誤魔化せず結構大変です。しかも、この音程が次のファゴットのメロディの音程を決めてしまうので、尚更大変です。

Since the Tchaikovsky has died on November 6, 1893 just 9　days after the premiere, it is a work that is also believed to the last message of Tchaikovsky who foresaw the death, but innovative enough to say that the best masterpiece even Tchaikovsky himself.

Symphony No. 6 has made from the movement of the  orthodox 4　movments , but the content has totally different at all . I　has  loose - Dances - - Dances (Scherzo + march style) and rapid movement , different from the  normal pattern of rapid  -slow  - dance(or scherzo)  - rapid movement .

Also, Waltz 5/4 beat is entered as dance is next to the first movement with a famous subject. And, it has become from  third movement music of 4/4 system and the 12/8 time signature system is intertwined,and final movement elegy. The subject of the final movement melody alternately one note at a time is the second violin and first violin each other.
