ミュージシャンのリチャード・カーペンターは1946年10月15日にニューヘイブンで生まれました。

リチャードは1970年代に活躍したカーペンターズのお兄ちゃんの方で、当初はボーカルもやっていましたが、妹カレンの歌の人気が高く、次第にプロデュース、コーラス、キーボード演奏に専念するようになりました。

作詞作曲もやっていますが、ヒット・シングルの多くはポール・ウィリアムズやレオン・ラッセル、バート・バカラックなど他の人の作品でした。カーペンターズの日本での最大のヒット曲は「イエスタディ・ワンス・モア」でした。オリコンの洋楽チャートでは26週連続1位を記録しています。(半年ナンバーワンだったわけです)
この「イエスタディ・ワンス・モア」は、リチャードとジョン・ベティスの共作です。

アルバム「ナウ・アンド・ゼン」からのシングル・カットで、古き良き時代の音楽を懐かしんだ曲。アルバムの1曲目で、この後は、オールデイズのメドレーが続きます。

He had also done songwriting, but many of the hit single was the work of others Leon Russell, Paul Williams, and Burt Bacharach,so on. Greatest hits of the Carpenters in Japan was "Yesterday, Once More." It had recorded 26 consecutive weeks, ranking number one in Western chart of Oricon. (It was number one six months)
"Yesterday Once More" was a co-operation of John Bettis and Richard.

It  was a Song in a single cut from the album "Now And Then", that they viewd with nostalgia the good old music of the times. It was the first track of the album, after this, medley of Oldies is followed.
