メシアンの「鳥たちのめざめ」は1953年10月11日に初演されました。

メシアンは鳥類学者でもあったため、鳥に関する作品を多く作曲しています。メシアンは鳥の鳴き声を様々な楽器で表現し、この鳴き声を中心に音楽を組み立てました。それが「鳥たちのめざめ」です。
