シュポアのヴァイオリン協奏曲第8番イ短調op.47は1816年9月27日に初演されました。

シュポアはヴァイオリニストとして活躍をはじめ、その後作曲家としても知られるようになりました。作品の数は150曲を超え、様々なジャンルの作品を遺しました。特にヴァイオリン曲が多く、協奏曲は15曲作曲しています。

その中でも、第8番は「劇唱の形式で」という副題がありオペラのアリアのような形式で作曲された珍しい曲です。
