フランスのバロックを代表する作曲家フランソワ・クープランは1733年9月11日にパリで亡くなりました。

フランソワは、多くの音楽家を輩出したクープラン家の中でも最も有名な作曲家で「大クープラン」とも言われています。彼の作品の中ではクラヴサン(チェンバロ)のための曲が重要な位置を占めますが、管弦楽のための曲も数多く作曲しています。

「王宮のコンセール」は、フランス国王ルイ14世が毎日曜に催していた音楽会のために作曲された合奏曲です。「王宮のコンセール」は舞曲を中心とした組曲で4番まであります。全部で曲数は25曲。いずれも華やかというよりは穏やかな曲です。
