作曲家ヴィクター・ヤングは1899年8月8日にシカゴで生まれました。

ヤングは最初はコンサート・ヴァイオリニストとして音楽のキャリアをスタートさせましたが、ポピュラー音楽に転向し多くのポピュラー・ミュージックを作曲しました。

1930年代中頃からは映画音楽に専念するためにハリウッドに移りました。「シェーン」や「80日間世界一周」などの作曲をしています。

「ラヴ・レター」は同名の映画の主題歌で、アカデミー歌曲賞にノミネートされています。

Composer Victor Young was born in Chicago on August 8, 1899. Young began his music career as a concert violinist at first, but has composed the popular music of many　after he turned to popular music.

He was moved to Hollywood in order to concentrate on film music from the mid-1930s. He  composed "Shane" and "Around the World in 80 Days" so on.

Theme song of the movie of the same name, "Love Letter" has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
