リストの「2つの伝説」は1865年8月29日にリスト自身のピアノ独奏で初演されました。

「2つの伝説」はリストの信仰が深まって行った時期に作曲されたキリスト教を題材としたピアノ曲です。アッシジのフランチェスコとパオラのフランチェスコという2人の聖人の伝説を基にしたもので、当時は指揮者のハンス・フォン・ビューローの妻となっていた娘コジマに献呈されています。

第1曲は「小鳥に説教するアッシジの聖フランチェスコ」、第2曲は「波の上を渡るパオラの聖フランチェスコ」です。1975年にリスト自身による管弦楽版が発見されました。今でも、管弦楽版かピアノ独奏版のどちらが原曲かはっきりしていません。

"2 Legendes" of Listz was premiered at the piano solo of Liszt himself on August 29, 1865.

"2 Legendes"is a piano piece  theme of Christianity  written at a time when faith of Liszt went deepened    It is based on the legend of the saint of the two named Francis of Paola and Francis of Assisi, and has been dedicated to daughter Cosima, who had been a wife of Hans von Bureau of conductor at that time.

The first piece is "St François d'Assise: la prédication aux oiseaux" and  the second piece is St François de Paule: marchant sur les flots"  The orchestra piece which was orchestrated Liszt himself had been discovered in 1975. Even now, either solo piano or orchestral version  is not clear whether the original song.
