俳優のピーター・オトゥールは1932年8月2日にアイルランドで生まれました。

王立演劇学校を経て1955年に舞台俳優としてプロ・デビュー。1960年に映画デビューをして1962年に「アラビアのロレンス」で主役を演じて話題になりました。

その後「冬のライオン」や「チップス先生さようなら」などで主役を演じました。1972年のミュージカル映画「ラ・マンチャの男」ではセルバンテスとドン=キホーテを演じています。
「ラ・マンチャの男」は、現実の世界で宗教裁判にかけられる作家セルバンテス、劇中劇「ドン=キホーテ」の中の田舎郷士アロンソ・キハーナと、妄想の中の「ドン=キホーテ」が多重構造で描かれています。

The professional debut as a stage actor of him was in 1955 through the Royal drama school. It became the topic that he  played a leading role in "Lawrence of Arabia" in 1962

He played a leading role as "Lion In Winter", such as "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" after that.  And he played  Don Quixote and Cervantes in "Man of La Mancha" musical film of 1972.
In  "Man of La Mancha", he played writer Cervantes to be subjected to the Inquisition in the real world ,the country squire Alonso Kihana  and  Don   Quixote in the delusion in multiple structure.
