スペインの作曲家ホアキン・ロドリーゴは1999年7月6日に97歳で亡くなりました。

1901年に生まれたロドリーゴは3歳の頃にジフテリアに罹り視覚障害者となりました。8歳からヴァイオリンとピアノを学び、デュカスなどに作曲を学んだロドリーゴは1939年にアランフェス協奏曲を作曲し、その成功によって、フルート奏者のゴールウェイやチェロ奏者のジュリアン・ロイド・ウェバー、ギタリストのアンドレス・セゴビアなどから多くの作品を委嘱されるようになりました。

ロドリーゴ自身はギターを弾く事は無かったようですが、スペインというお国柄ギターに作品も多く作曲しています。「祈りと踊り」は敬愛する作曲家ファリャの没後45年のために作曲されたギターの独奏曲です。コンクールの課題などにも使われる、視覚障害のロドリーゴらしい内面を深く表現した曲です。

Composer Joaquin Rodrigo of Spain died at the age of 97 on July 6, 1999.

Rodrigo was born in 1901 and became a visually impaired person by diphtheria in the days of three-year-old. Rodrigo  had learned the piano and violin since the age of eight, and  learned to compose in such Ducasse. He  composed the Aranjuez Concerto in 1939, by its success,  he was commisioned  works from many player such as Julian Lloyd Webber cellist ,Galway flute player and Andres Segovia guitarist.

He was not to play the guitar Rodrigo himself, but composed many works in the conditions of a country guitar of Spain. "Invocacion y danza" is a solo guitar that has been composed for the '45 death of composer Falla to be revered. It is a tune that expressed deep is also used for such challenges contest, an inner surface like Rodrigo visually impaired.
