映画監督スタンリー・キューブリックは1928年7月26日にニューヨークで生まれました。

奇才として知られたキューブリックは1960年の「スパルタカス」の成功で名前を知られるようになり、「博士の異常な愛情 または私は如何にして心配するのを止めて水爆を愛するようになったか」 、「2001年宇宙の旅」及び「時計じかけのオレンジ」でその才能を認められるようになりました。

彼は非常に時間をかけて作品を作る事もあり、作品の数は多くはありませんが、その後も「バリー・リンドン」、「シャイニング」、「フルメタルジャケット」の3作品を監督し、いずれもヒットさせています。

彼は作品の中でクラシック音楽を効果的に使用しています。
「2001年宇宙の旅」では、特に冒頭のリヒャルト・シュトラウスの「ツァラトゥストラはかく語りき」と月面シャトルの中でのシーンで使われるヨハン・シュトラウスの｢美しく青きドナウ」が良く知られています。
「時計じかけのオレンジ」では、ベートーヴェンの交響曲第9番をシンセサイザーとオーケストラ両方の演奏を中心に、エルガーの「威風堂々」やロッシーニの「どろぼうかささぎ」などが使われています。
「バリー・リンドン」ではバロック音楽が多く使われていて、特にヘンデルの「サラバンド」が知られています。
「シャイニング」でもバルトークの「弦楽器、打楽器とチェレスタのための音楽」やペンデレツキの作品が使われていますが、テーマ音楽はウォルター・カーロスが作曲した「ロッキー・マウンテンズ」です。この曲は、グレゴリオ聖歌の「怒りの日」をアレンジしたものです。

Film director Stanley Kubrick was born in New York on July 26, 1928.

Kubrick known as genius has been known in the success of 1960 of "Spartacus"  , and we came to be recognized their talents "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb " ,"2001: A Space Odyssey" and "A Clockwork Orange".

He  cost much time to  make his work  ,so he does not have as many number of work, but he made the three works, "Barry Lyndon," "The Shining" and "Full Metal Jacket" since then, and every works hit.

He has effectively used the classical music in the works.
In "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Also sprach Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss at the beginning and  "An der schönen blauen Donau" by Johann Strauss used in the scene in the moon shuttle has been particularly well known .
In "A Clockwork Orange", in the center of the orchestra playing both the synthesizer and the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven, "Pomp and Circumstance" of Elgar and and "La gazza ladra"  of Rossini is used.
Baroque music has been used a lot in "Barry Lyndon", Handel's "Sarabande" is particularly known.
Works of Penderecki and "Music for Strings, Percussion and a Celesta "  of Bartok has been also used in "The Shining," but Walter Carlos was composed theme music "Rocky Mountains". This song is what he made based on  "Dies Irae" of Gregorian chant.
