アメリカの作家エリック・シーガルは1937年6月16日にブルックリンで生まれました。

エリック・シーガルはハーバード大学を卒業し1965年には比較文学で博士号を取得し、ハーバード大学、イェール大学やブリンストン大学でラテン文学とギリシア文学の教授を勤めました。

何と言っても、エリック・シーガルの活動の中で最も知られているのが、「ラヴ・ストーリー」の執筆でしょう。1970年には全米ナンバーワンのベストセラーとなり世界中で翻訳されました。翌年には映画化されて興行収入も1位になっています。

あまり知られていないのが、1967年にリー・マイノフの原作から脚本を書いた「イエロー・サブマリン」。翌年ビートルズによって音楽化、映画化されました。同名の主題歌はビートルズの曲の中でも、リンゴ・スターがヴォーカルを担当した代表的な曲として知られています。

Eric Segal graduated from Harvard University and he completed his Ph.D. in comparative literature in 1965 and is a  has served as professor of Greek literature and Latin literature at Harvard University, in Burinsuton University and Yale University.

Is best known in all is said and done, the activities of Eric Segal, it would be writing "Love Story". It has been translated all over the world become a bestseller in the United States number one in 1970. Box office also has become the first place it is a movie the following year.
