チャイコフスキーは1840年5月7日にロシアで生まれました。

チャイコフスキーの父親は鉱山技師で、音楽の才能を現したチャイコフスキーを音楽家にするつもりもなく法律学校に入れ、チャイコフスキーも法務省に勤務しました。しかし、チャイコフスキーは音楽への夢を棄てられず、21歳の時にアントン・ルビンシュタインが創設した音楽院に入学しました。音楽教育を受け始めたのはこのように遅い時期でしたがめきめきと頭角を現し、2年後には法務省を辞めて、音楽活動に専念するようになりました。

今回取り上げるのはピアノ曲です。チャイコフスキーのピアノ作品は膨大な数の管弦楽曲に比べると決して多くはありませんが名曲がたくさんあります。「ハープサルの思い出」は1867年の夏避暑に行ったバルト海沿岸のハープサルという町の印象を描いた3曲からなるピアノ曲です。「城の廃墟」「スケルツォ」「無言歌」の3曲です。特に「無言歌」はとても清々しい曲でヴァイオリン曲にも編曲されて親しまれています。

It is three songs "Ruines d'un chateau," "Scherzo" and "Chant sans paroles". "Chant sans paroles" has been paticularly popular and been transcribed to violin music in the refreshing song .
