エロルドの歌劇「ザンパ」は1931年5月3日に初演されました。

エロルドは19世紀フランスの作曲家で主にオペラで活躍しました。今では彼の作品は殆ど上演されませんが、唯一歌劇「ザンパ」の序曲だけは時々演奏されています。もっとも、彼は結核で42歳の若さで亡くなっていますから、長生きしていればもっと有名になっていたかもしれません。

「ザンパ」序曲は私が学生の頃に放送されていたNHK-FMのクラシック番組のテーマ曲として使われていてなじみになった曲です。
