ロッシーニの歌劇「どろぼうかささぎ」は1817年5月31日にミラノ・スカラ座で初演されました。

どろぼうかささぎは、ヒロイン　ニネッタの冤罪からの救出劇で、真犯人がかささぎだったという内容の歌劇です。
ロッシーニの歌劇の序曲は、通常、歌劇の中の曲は使わずに全く別物として作曲されたものが殆どなのですが、どろぼうかささぎの序曲は曲中の音楽を多く使用しています。また、他の序曲に比べるとシンフォニックな雰囲気のするロッシーニらしくない曲です。(と言ってもロッシーニクレッシェンドは健在です)

冒頭にドラムロールがありますが、死刑台へ向かうニネッタを暗示したものです。

Rossini opera " La Gazza Ladra" was premiered at La Scala on May 31, 1817.
