今日の音楽 4月2日 涅槃交響曲 Music for today April 2, Symphony Nirvana

黛敏郎の涅槃交響曲は1958年4月2日に岩城宏之指揮NHK交響楽団の演奏で初演されました。

非常に意欲的な作品で、声明に見立てた男声合唱を3群に分けてバラバラに配置したり、梵鐘の音をテープで録音し、それを解析した上でオーケストラで再現しています。

この曲は仏教と西洋音楽の融合という非常に難しいテーマを取り上げ、現代音楽とは言っても心地よさを失わない曲に仕上げられており、翌年第7回尾高賞を受賞しました。
